Multichannel DVRs in commercial vehicles
The most common and popular-single-channel DVRs. They are mounted on the front of the cabin, most often on the windshield. Such models can perform both basic functions and more advanced ones, for example, auto guard or GPS navigation. This is the perfect option for personal transport.
Multichannel DVRs are used for commercial vehicles. Their difference is that they involve the connection of additional cameras: you can get a rear view. The most common application is taxi: a driver can get information about what his passengers are doing and, if necessary, find out who damaged the seat, for example.
They are installed in any commercial transport, for example, for the transport of products or company executives, officials. If the model has security functions, it will be possible to get all the information about who damaged the car and how.
Multichannel DVRs for 3 or more cameras
Scope of application of multichannel video recorders:
- organize control and accounting systems for motor vehicles in parking lots and checkpoints;
- record everything happening around the car while it is moving or stopping;
- video surveillance of visitors in stores, offices and private homes;
- control, with the help of video, all cash operations at cashier’s workplaces;
- to automatically register and control the movement of all railway cars on the territory of certain objects;
- and more.
These models of DVRs are recording with 3 or more cameras. Therefore, the data obtained are more informative than that of single-channel devices. Of course, the cost of such structures is much higher than that of conventional DVRs, so it is not entirely advisable to use them in personal transport.
One of the advantages is that it’s almost impossible to detect such a device. The DVR itself is fixed in the trunk or under the seat, and all the cameras are connected using wires. Recording can be viewed on a PC using a special program.
General Selection Guidelines
Due to the popularity of such devices, the range is growing. During the selection, pay attention to the following parameters:
- Resolution and write speed. Ideal-25 frames per second with a resolution of 750x576. It is better to give preference to good models with high recording quality, because if necessary, you can always zoom in and get access to important details.
- Record Settings: It is recommended that you be able to adjust the brightness, contrast, colors.
Save the recording in the correct format, preferably so that you can convert to AVI format. If the device involves recording in some kind of its own format, which can only be viewed in a special program, further difficulties may arise with this.
Pay attention to the models with infrared illumination, which allows high-quality recording, even in low light conditions.
