How to choose a DVR that will not fail
In controversial situations, the DVR will allow you to defend your case. In addition, it is an opportunity to be aware of everything that happens to the machine in your absence. In choosing the right model, you need to consider the desired features of the device and the technical equipment for high-quality shooting.
Construction
Today, the lineup offers us a variety of options for various designs of DVRs. Consider the features of each:
- Traditional: the camera and control unit in one design. It differs in a simple way of control. Among the shortcomings can be allocated large sizes, if there is an integrated display.
- Modular: the camera and the control unit are separate from each other. It differs in compactness, which allows you to carefully hide the device. The control unit is placed in the glove box and, if necessary, you can easily change the settings.
- Hybrid models: DVRs are additionally equipped with a navigator and other functions. The main advantage of such devices is their versatility.
For conventional shooting, the most practical option is the traditional design.
Resolution
Matrix resolution determines the quality of the recordings. There are three most popular options:
- HD — resolution of 1280x720 pixels. In modern conditions, this is the minimum that is required for normal shooting. Such parameters allow you to get a clear picture without blurry edges.
- Full HD — the resolution is 1920x1080 pixels. They are distinguished by better image transmission: all small objects and numbers are clearly visible.
- Super HD — the resolution is 2304х1296 pixels. Allows you to make detailed image, cutting only the desired frame.
The best option is Full HD, but choosing a good resolution is not a guarantee of quality shooting.
Viewing Angle
No less important parameter affecting the quality of the received record. The larger this parameter, the larger the area can get into the frame. The minimum value: 120 — horizontally, 145 — diagonally. But do not pursue too large values, because the fish eye effect may appear.
Mounting mechanism
In modern models there are two mounting options:
- Vacuum sucker: feature is an easy position change if necessary, the ability to quickly remove the device.
- Double-sided tape: a compact version that is less visible to scammers.
A good addition will be the ability to rotate the DVR 360 degrees to record all that is happening in the cabin if necessary.
Additional Functions
Modern models offer various solutions that extend the use of such devices:
- Shock sensor: prevents rewriting of the video in case of possible collisions and sudden braking of the car
- WDR: stabilizes individual overexposed areas, making the overall picture better.
- GPS module: helps to fix your route and speed. You will be able to look all your way with a fixed speed at each point.
- Sound signals, for example, if you go on a long journey, then a timer call will not let you fall asleep.
- Motion detection: when motion begins in the frame, the video is recorded.
Additional functions are an optional parameter when choosing DVRs, but will improve the comfort of using devices.
