Driving in hot weather: everything you need to know

In the summer it is very important to know and follow the safety rules for a person and his car. It would seem that it can happen, because it is not winter, when it is icy on the street and the car is sometimes very difficult to drive.

The most obvious and most popular problem is when the scorching sun causes the car to overheat, which leads to breakdowns in the cooling system.

During the summer, follow these guidelines:

  • Regular monitoring of the fluid level in the engine, transmission, cooling system.
  • Tire check: the air inside the tire heats up much faster in the heat, so they can go down faster.
  • Gathered to rest? No need to overload the machine with unnecessary things. Each car has its own threshold capacity, which is not recommended to exceed.
  • As a rule, road works are carried out in the summer, so be careful when driving through such sections.
  • Take care of the presence of sunglasses in the car, because the sun can blind your eyes, leading to a possible accident.
  • Please note that a dirty windshield catches the sun's rays better, which ultimately provides poor visibility-take care of its cleanliness.

As you can see, summer is a time when, like in winter, you need to adhere to special rules in car care and use.

Preparing a car for the heat

What problems may arise in the heat?

In hot weather you need to be prepared for various problems and in addition to the scorching sun from the outside, you may encounter other troubles:

  • A cool salon is only an illusion of comfort, because it is at such moments that the driver can get a cold. Even the most modern climate control system can be dangerous, since it is air conditioning that causes throat and nose problems. It's a shame to lie with a high temperature when it is summer outside. Such diseases are very simple to obtain: it is enough to turn on the air conditioner at full capacity all the time.
  • Avoid a sudden change in temperature, for example, from the scorching heat to a cold room: just a couple of times are enough and you have a cold. If you have seats with built-in ventilation, then we recommend only cooling them if they are heated in the sun while standing, but using it throughout the entire trip is a risk to freeze the kidneys.
  • Make it a habit to regularly clean the air ducts to remove all possible microbes.

As you can see, in the summer you get at least the risk of catching a cold than in the winter.

Cooling methods without an air conditioner

What should I do if outside the window is + 40 ° C and the air conditioner is still not installed in the cabin? Of course, no one forces you to drive in a stuffy car, but you can be smart. Several options for how to get out of this situation:

  • A small fan with batteries-consumes little energy, but is effective for cooling the cabin. Leave the device turned on if you leave the car for a few hours and enjoy the cool when you arrive.
  • Use the window-door method: open the window and then abruptly open and close the opposite door approximately 5 times. This method does not require extra costs and will allow at least a little to cool the interior.

As you can see, even at no extra cost you can cool even at the peak of the heat.

Preparing the cooling system for the summer season

Preparing the cooling system for the summer season

Only a small percentage of drivers turn on the air conditioner in the winter, which leads to a sharp drop in load in the summer. Therefore, you need to properly prepare the cooling system and air conditioner for the new load.

Preparation of air conditioners includes the following steps:

  • Checking the pressure and amount of freon in the system. With insufficient parameters, the efficiency of the air conditioner will be significantly reduced, which will lead to a decrease in efficiency.
  • It is recommended to switch on the air conditioner from time to time in winter in order to drive off the working gas through the system.
  • Evaporator treatment with antibacterial solution: high humidity provides condensation that accumulates bacteria.
  • Replacing a filter that may cause poor or slow ventilation.

Now let's proceed to the preparation of the engine cooling system:

  • Check the level of the cooling solution and its condition: is there any sediment in it, impurities.
  • Check the overall tightness of the system.
  • Check the performance of related elements, for example, a thermostat or a fan.

If you prepare in time for the summer season and take into account all the above recommendations, you will not only be safe to go on trips, but also with complete comfort.
