Radar detector: what is it? Probably the answer to this question every car owner knows. But in conversations it is usually called the "anti-radar", although it means it is the radar detector. Let's take a closer look at this and dot the “i” point.

The difference between an anti-radar detector and a radar detector resembles the difference between a walkie-talkie and a conventional radio. The principle of operation of the anti-radar is to generate powerful interference or signal in response, the power of which exceeds the original signal from the radar. And in some countries even, the traffic police work with radar detectors, installing special “beacons” in especially dangerous places of the road. This is done to ensure that drivers, waiting for the radar on the road, reduced speed, for example, before sharp turns. The answer is obvious: the range of the radar detector is 5-8 times longer than the radius of the radar itself. The maximum distance for the ability to fix the speed with a radar fluctuates at the level of 300-350 meters, and for photography-50-100 meters, because at a great distance the photo-radar complex cannot clearly take a picture of the license plate of the car.

The radar detector should not have a radar in the line of sight. He will completely catch at least some radiation in a certain range to alert the car owner. Based on these characteristics, we can safely count on the detection range within 1-3 km on city streets and 5 km on the highway. But there is no smoke without fire, as they say. And in this situation is no exception. In order for the radar detector to inform the driver about the presence of the radar on the road, it is necessary that the radar be turned on. Example: if a traffic policeman peeks out from behind a bush with the radar turned off, the radar detector in the car will not work until the traffic cop turns it on. In this case, the radar detector will not perform its direct function.
