Radar detectors and new in traffic regulations on additional restrictions on the speed of movement in Ukraine

As you know, ignorance of the law does not relieve anyone of responsibility for his violation. Therefore, regularly arming yourself with knowledge of changes in traffic rules is important for every conscious driver. So, from July 18, 2012, it is necessary to pay attention to additional speed limits on the territory of Ukraine. From this date, new requirements are applied to them (Section 12.10 of the Road Rules). Now such restrictions can be set permanently and temporarily and necessarily accompanied by warning signs about approaching the relevant object or the nature of the danger. And, as motorists will assume, probably, accompanied by traffic police with a radar for greater control. So, from now on, constant speed limits can be set in some cases. Namely: on dangerous sections of streets/roads; in places of placement of stationary posts of GAI, unregulated land pedestrian crossings; on sections of roads/streets bordering the territory of educational institutions (general education and pre-school), children's camps. And temporary restrictions can be imposed in those places where road works, mass and special events take place; and in cases related to natural weather events. A traffic police with a radar in these areas will never spoil the trip if the driver is armed with knowledge of new traffic rules and even more so if he has a radar detector on board.

In addition, it is now important to remember that the speed limit zone operates from the place of its installation to the first intersection or to the end of the settlement, if there are no intersections in it. On the tracks and, if necessary, this zone may be reduced by installing signs that change the speed limit or the sign indicating the end of all prohibitions and restrictions. Also under the new Rules, the “Control” sign (3.41) is used in case of a phased speed limit with pre-installation in the required number of signs that limit the speed of movement.

I would like to remind drivers that if the signs of speed limit are installed with non-compliance with the requirements of the traffic rules, national standards, as well as after removing the causes of their installation, then the possible accusation of violating them will be illegal. And in order that the radar control of the traffic police, and especially-with the introduction of traffic regulations, should not come as a surprise, the decision to buy a radar detector would be appropriate. And by combining it with driver's literacy and responsible driving, the driver will be able to get a comfortable planned trip and a friendly attitude of the traffic police.
