Meet novelty automobile industry — coal car!

To be precise, the first idea of such a mechanism arose in the XIX century. The German inventor Rudolph Diesel, with the support of financial magnates led the development of diesel engine, which would consume coal, to be exact — the coal dust. In 1893, Diesel even tried to test a working model of the engine, but ended up almost tragic: the model itself exploded, and the inventor of the miracle was not injured.

Ideas have continued to speed and relevance of the twentieth century. It is at this age he pressed the main development and testing of a new project. Globalization and the dependence of most countries of the oil magnates of the East were the main causes of such an idea. At first the German and later American scientists conducted intensive studies with a coal engine.

In the early twentieth century Germany was successfully developed a technology for production of synthetic fuel from coal by Fischer-Tropsch process. In the mid-70s years American corporation General Motors is not only expressed interest in such developments, but also actively took up their development.

In 1978, a team led by Albert Bell presented the leadership of GM full-size sedan Cadillac Eldorado, runs on coal. Later, another sample copy Oldsmobile Delta 88 was equipped with a similar engine. Undoubtedly, it was a success! In 1981, Vice President, General Motors Howard Curle presented two models to journalists.

Seemed that the world stands on the threshold of a new automotive era. But whether the developers were afraid of their success, whether because of political considerations, but the project was not launched to the masses for reasons shrouded in mystery.

And now today in our country, the idea of an engine on coal sounded fresh and relevant. But this is not just a theory. This is the real prospect of conveyor production of such vehicles.

With enough rich deposits of coal (as opposed to oil), Ukraine is able to “feed” all the coal cars on the domestic market and even to share with neighbors. But as regards the production of cars, for the moment our country is represented by the manufacturer Avto3A3 has a good chance to become a monopolist in this field of production, because nobody in the world, more so seriously and substantively is not involved in this project.
